With the show season approaching, this client was recommended to us for Ford Mustang car detailing. He wanted his Ford Mustang looking its best for show time. Empire Customs Automotive on the Ford Mustang Car Detailing, getting the car to show car standards.

Method

Prep:

• Thorough safe wash to remove the bulk of surface contaminants. Citrus pre-wash, snowfoam, 2 bucket method.
• Decontamination stage – iron out to remove iron deposits, detar for tar spots/stains and clayed for any deep bonded contaminants in preparation for machining.

Machine polish

The machine polish consisted of a three-stage process – carry out a cut/refine/finish. This is commonly referred to as a paint correction where each step has a specific role to correct and finish the paint. The Auto Finesse three step range was used with corresponding pads to carry out this job. The paintwork was subject to some very deep scratching and sprayed panels which meant extra care had to be taken in these areas to maximise future machining. The process goes from cutting heavy swirling, down to minor swirls and regaining gloss after the ‘cut’.

Coating

Vehicle colour specific hard wax was applied as an initial coat to magnify the paint flake and gloss followed by a harder wax on top which has longer lasting characteristics. The wheels were subject to hard wax application, all trims coated, and the exhaust tips machined to a high finish.
