This Seat Leon car detailing project was brought to us only just over a year old, freshly bought by our client. Subject to its first wash revealed that the dealership had masked all imperfections to the car with a glaze. A dual stage machine polish was planned to remove the worst of the defects and protect all major surfaces.
Method:
Preparation:
- Pre wash stage to remove loose debris
- 2 Bucket method with grit guards and high-end mitts
- Iron out/Detar/Clay bar treatment to remove any stubborn/bonded contaminants
Machine Polish
Two stages of machining were implemented but more machining still required to obtain show level, this is subject to very deep scratching and poor maintenance from previous owner/dealership. On this occasion 80% of defects removed which was tailored around the client’s budget. Stage 1 was a light compound, followed by a more balanced polish to bring back gloss depth as well as pulling more medium swirls out. 160 and 73mm heads were used on this car throughout as the contours don’t allow for the larger head to machine correctly. Defects were too deep on the bonnet to restore them on this occasion – this looks to be the results of stones/grit in a mitt when washed previous.
Coating
Paintwork cleansed down using Gyeon Quartz prep spray and two coats of Fusso sealant were applied with the correct curing for 12 months of protection which will have a 6 month top up continuously until more machining is required. Wheels were removed, cleansed, coated in Carbon Collective and left to cure. Glass, Exhaust and Leather all coated, left to cure and an interior detail carried out.
